There is plenty of it today (flip flaps and flim flams)
For starters there is the killing of the American Ambassador to Libya as well as some other Americans in the same attack. There is the violation of the American Embassy in Egypt and the resulting destruction of our flag plus the wild ranting Islamic Extremists climbing up the embassy wall in Cairo.
And there is another apology by American officials for something that came on the internet that the Extremists did not like….just a bit of American freedom of speech but it must be apologized for!
I think this began in early 2009 with President Obama’s mid-east apology tour to nations there, along with his bowing and scraping to the Arab leaders in several places. Such nations(Arab) consider those kinds of actions and words to be signs of weakness and irresolution. I think there are a bunch of birds coming home to roost in the President’s apology trees.
It will continue until there are signs of a REAL American foreign policy on such things—- instead of the Fly- By- The- Seat- Of- Your- Pants and “make it up as you go” (after testing the polls) type of foreign policy we have seen since 2009.
The Flip – Flap appeared in today’s FORUM with yet another National Enquirer type front page story about a Wahpeton Science college football player who was dismissed by the coach of that college’s football team. The player says it is because he is gay but the rest of the story says the player lied to the coach when asked about kissing a 65 year old man who was with him in a booth where filming of a game was going on. I assume that lying would break team rules and the coach has grounds for dismissal—- but the player has seen fit to obscure the issue by saying “Everyone lies to the coach…..” and other inane defenses.
The issue of telling a lie to anyone and saying that everyone does it so it is OK… is something that is rapidly going by the wayside in our culture. “Everybody does it” is the lame defense for telling lies to cover your rear end or for whatever reason people lie to others.
I would say that the issue of lying far outweighs the Flip – Flap the player is trying to create in order to get a big story on the front page of ND’s largest daily paper.
And of course the FORUM takes the bait once again.
Serious journalism seems to be another “endangered species”.
