In just two hours my beautiful niece (sister’s daughter) will be married to her beloved Sweetheart.
I could break out singing “Is This The Little Girl I Carried?” from FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. She was born in late October when I was 39 years old—the first girl in our family (on my side) after 4 lively boys. She is stil the ONLY niece on my side of the family and I love her so much I cannot even express it.
I spent a lot of time with my precious girl when she was young; I took care of her when she was 18 months old one summer, every weekday, and I was more in love with her than ever after that. We rocked when she had a fever; we read books, we played together and she would run to me when a train came through town because the sound of trains scared her then.
Today she will be the most beautiful bride of this summer…for me. She is a gorgeous girl inside and outside!!!
I am so happy for her and her fiance.
It will be a joyous day and I pray that for them it will be a joyous long life together.

Buffalo Gal, this is kind of off topic, but since it’s been in the news so much . . . if your niece were in love with a woman and they decided to pledge their lives to eachother, if and how would your feelings toward her change?
My background tells me you would pray for her and love her an so forth; but do you think you’d experience some type of crisis of faith because of this? (crisis of faith, there’s a term I haven’t used in a while)
Back on topic, I suspect your niece’s life has been made better by the love of her Aunt “Buffy”. Congrats.
