There is a good analogy to the Republican political strategy against Obama. It’s like an arsonist (the Republicans) lit the house on fire, and then blamed the fire department (Obama and the Democrats) for the fire simply because they came and tried to put out the fire. Then the arsonist started pouring gasoline on the fire and this kept the fire going, and then of course blamed the fire department for not putting out the fire. The fire department had its problems too. Rather than simply using as much water as needed to put the fire out, they decided to compromise with the arsonists. “How about we just pour half the amount of water needed to put out the fire, would that satisfy you arsonists?” The arsonist replies “No don’t use any water, it costs too much”, and then in 2010 (Tea Party Mania) they decided to turn off the water altogether. So now here we sit in 2012 with the house still burning, the fire department unable to put out the fire, and the arsonist still pouring more gas on the fire and still blaming the fire department.
