LONG, UNWANTED HIATUS!
I am back and I am delirious with joy! Oh how I have missed my blog!
It started with the timely death (10 years old) of my old computer in the third week of September. Then I waited another 2 weeks til our wonderful computer “guru” and good friend (Randy) shopped for a new laptop and installed it. Then with some Areavoices support….I am back on “Buffalogal” a blog that began in May, 2006. I am so grateful to those who helped me over this “unwanted hiatus”….Randy, my ever- patient husband and the Areavoices support folks.
Being in one’s 70s kind of puts one into the non-tech/computer illiterate group of “has-beens” but this old “has-been” loves to write! This is so great…blogging again!
Lots of water over the dam since I handed out the 2010 “Buffies” when I last blogged.
My husband and I attended our 50th college class reunion on Oct 2-3. How delightful to see truly good friends we have not seen, many since the day in May 1960 that we graduated. I have gotten in touch with room-mates and dorm-neighbors again! We relived some of our freshman fun…..the oreo cookie-reddi-wip adventures in which we would put an Oreo in our mouths, chew a bit and then have a dorm-buddy shoot reddi-wip in your mouth. Unless you got someone who kept shooting the reddi-wip non-stop and whipping cream came out your nose…it worked well. We relived the night two of us got under a neighbor’s bed and scared the bejabbers out of her.
We relived more serious matters also; it was a wonderful experience.
I had another kind of reunion in late September …a three class reunion of mid-1950s classes who knew each other so well in a very small school. That event was also a true delight…seeing old friends from high school and grade school days…old friends who hold a special place in your heart as long as you live.
We tried to have a mosquito-less bonfire and picnic last weekend but the late October hot spell seems to have hatched a big new crop of the pests. We were mostly miserable. But the food was good and the little kids had fun.
I am so happy to be back on my blog! I can write once again and get in touch with blogging friends. It is GREAT to be back!
