Critics of the President flying off to Copenhagen, Denmark to put in a personal plea for Chicago to get the Olympic games a few years down the road are snarling about the trip the president is taking, as time off from the Oval Office. I do not get too worked up about where the Olympics are held but one cannot help but notice the controversy over this trip to Copenhagen. The critics keep mentioning things like more important things to do like decide about the troop request for Afghananistan, supervising or refereeing the major fight over nationalized healthcare, paying attention to the stagnating Cap and Trade tax bill which is languishing somewhere in the jungles of Washington DC legislative chambers, and figuring out what to do about Iran’s thumbing their noses at the international community by firing off missiles on the first day of the sacred Jewish holy day of Yom Kippur. Oh… and then there was that revelation by President O about knowing that Iran already had a big nuclear facility up and running that had not been brought to light until just a few days ago after the Mucky- Mucks of international fame and fortune had spoken to the UN General Assembly.
But the Olympics must be snagged for hometown Chicago…. so the rest of it can wait, apparently.
Well, I say it is time to step up and get serious about redistributing the wealth!!!! Joe the Plumber accidentally got that phrase out of presidential candidate Obama last fall when Mr O used the term "redistributing the wealth" when he engaged in a non-scripted or no-teleprompter conversation with the now famous "Joe" at a campaign appearance.
And I favor that concept regarding the Olympics site for….2016…is that it? Several other cities, including Rio de Janiero, Brazil and some cities in Africa would also like to have the Olympics at their places. Now here is the point: the United States has had the Olympics many, many times already! I can think of Lake Placid New York, another in Atlanta, Georgia, and another in Squaw Valley California…and how about Salt Lake City? I know there are more but I cannot dredge them up right now. But neither South America nor Africa have EVER had an Olympic Games…not winter and not summer games. The United States has had both, more than once.
So why not share the wealth and redistribute the wealth with South America or Africa. They need it too, and they have never had it. So in the spirit of Liberalism, Socialism or whatver "ism" you can name——let Rio have the games that Chicago wants or let Capetown have it….the United States, in the true spirit of the present administration, needs to share the wealth with South America or Africa…..spread the wealth around to the "Have Nots" on those continents. They have never had it! Why is the United States being piggish about having yet another Olympics even if it is the beloved "hometown" of Barack, Michelle and Oprah—-those stellar American representatives pleading the cause in Copenhagen.
If the Olympic committee or the powers that be could think this through, they would see the logic of sharing the wealth and redistributing it to Rio or Capetown.
Come on, people…..let’s be fair and put our money where Obama’s mouth is…or some such thing as that. Give it to Rio!!!!! The U.S. needs to wait their turn…and it isn’t coming around for a long time according to the redistribution of wealth doctrine.
Isn’t it hilarious that the same people complaining about President Obama taking two days to go and try to win our country the bid for the 2016 Olympics are the same people who thought it was so great that President Bush took 4 days to go to the 2008 Olympics to do nothing but sit on his ass for 4 days?
Hey Jump! If Chicago gets those Olympics then Barack and Michelle Obama can sit on their A – - es for 5-6 days when they come around!
You did not comment on my brilliant plan to redistribute the wealth!!!! (Choose Rio de Janiero)
