UPDATE ON HYENAS RUNNING LOOSE

I have just finished reading RealClearPolitics this morning.  I wish I were a techno-wiz at this point because I would link some compelling essays to this blog.  Unfortunately, it is really hard to Teach An Old Dog New Tricks and I am definitely an Old Dog on technology tricks of the trade.  I wish it were not so but it is.

I am going to recommend a few writers from RCP and hopefully those of you have an interest will Google "realclearpolitics" and read some things for yourselves.  I have said before that it is a good website because it includes the writing of both Liberals and Conservatives from leading newspapers and blogs (not the hysterical mean ones)  It also has 4 editorials from various sources each day, transcripts of speeches (today’s feature Fred Thompson and Joe Lieberman from last night’s convention in the Twin Cities) plus "The best of the blogs" plus a few others.  It is a good way to catch up daily on the latest in political news and views on "both sides of the aisle" so to speak.

Here are my recommendations for reading from RCP today:     Jeff Jacoby’s Boston Globe commentary "A Stark Choice On Abortion".    The editorial from the Wall Street Journal: "Why the media are sneering at Sarah Palin".     From the Best of the Blogs:  Michelle Malkin’s   "Four Stages of Conservative Female Abuse"  (Malkin has many links that are worth reading)  Malkin coined the phrase, "Palin Derangement Syndrome" which was the subject of my last blog about the "Media Hyenas".   Victor Davis Hanson’s short blog today is worth reading also.

Here is a sample of some statements made recently by female Hyenas who are suffering from Palin Derangement Syndrome and in crictical condition from their malaise:

Eleanor Clift:  "If the media reaction {to Palin} is anything, it is literally laughter across newsrooms"

Sally Quinn (Newsweek)   "It’s a political gimmick I find insulting to women, the Republican party, and to the country."

Maureen Dowd (New York Times, definitely in the most critical condition from PDR)    "They {Republicans} have a tradition of nominating bantamweight  Cheerleaders from the  West."

I rest my case!

WILD HYENAS RUNNING LOOSE IN BIG CITY!!!!

Yes, it’s true folks…there are wild hyenas abroad in a Big City…St Paul, MN, to be exact and the "hyenas" are the Mainstream Media Personnel, especially the female reporters and commentators by and large.

I looked up hyenas and Wikpedia gave me the following facts.  See if you can apply some of the African animal (hyena) traits with the Mainstream Media regarding their determination to destroy Sarah Palin and her family…. but most especially, her 17 year old pregnant daughter, Bristol, who has become the object of their (MSM) closest attention in the most recent days.

QUOTES FROM Wikepeda:   Hyenas "……have strong jaws in relation to their body size.  I immediately thought of a statement from Andrea Mitchell (strong jaws and relatively small body).  Mitchell, in her reporting for ABC news, said this about the possibilty of Hillary voters going for Sarah Palin.  Those female voters who might change their votes in favor of Sarah Palin are not educated women but blue collar women…..and other words to that effect.    My, My,  Andrea…where has your sense of feminism gone?  Don’t you stand up for women who run for high office and have been a working woman and mother for years and years?     Only if she is a Liberal Democrat, obviously….Andrea must sneer at working class, non-educated women..you know the kind… that are dumb enough to vote for a Conservative woman from (gag) Alaska!!!

"Hyenas are also associated {by certain cultures} with divination and sometimes thought of as tools of demons and witches."

Divination is defined as "the practice of seeking to foretell future events".    The MSM female hyenas have certainly decided that the future of Sarah Palin has been ruined by her lack of experience and her disgraceful pregnant daughter.

Certain MSM hyenas like Diane Sawyer, whom I heard speculating this morning on the graft and corruption of Republican convention goers who ACTUALLY ATTENDED SOME PARTIES yesterday put on by big corporations–you know, the kind who lobby Big Wigs in the Republican party?   She failed to mention that the same sort of parties were in high gear at the DNC convention a week ago and the same lobbyists were wooing the Big Wig Democrats…but of course that doesn’t count for Diane and her ilk. She is too busy with her divination of the Conservative Republicans…in her deceptive silky voice which covers her hyena cries.       The only sensible MSM personality who made a reasonable statement regarding Sarah Palin and her daughter was Susan Estrich who, to her credit, as a high Democratic operative,  pointed out that personal and family matters have no place in such coverage of a candidate like Sarah Palin.   Even Senator Obama, who is the object of MSM adoration and exaltation, made a statement that was decent and sensible regarding Palin’s daughter.  He said that family members are "off limits" when examining candidate’s qualifications and made reference to the fact that his own mother was only 18 when she had him. (I think his parents were unmarried at the time)  So should we all go on a rant about Obama’s mother and father???  Not according to the MSM women—-that sort of rant is saved for Conservative Republican candidates’ families.  The MSM surely is not taking the sensible advice from Senator Obama…they continue to rave on and on about Bristol Palin’s pregnancy and one MSM talk show host (Alan Colmes) has even questioned Sarah Palin’s  conceiving a child at age 44 and not taking proper care of herself… thereby CAUSING her baby’s Downs’ Syndrome. (He had to retract his statement under a hail of verbal fire by others, including his own Liberal followers who were appalled by what he said….and he is NOT EVEN an MSM female…shame on you, Alan!)

"Hyenas are primarily a predator….Hyenas are successful as pack hunters"  No comparison or example is needed here….the definition applies nicely to MSM pack hunters and predators."The haunting laughter-like calls inspired the idea in local cultures that they{hyenas} could imitate human voices and call their victims by name."          The MSM’s have called their victim by name—–Victim, thy name is Sarah Palin and Bristol Palin… and possibly Todd Palin, who like so many young men and women in thier earlier years as young adults, had a DWI on his driving record in 1986.  I do not recall the MSM saying "boo" when Al Gore’s son, Al Gore Jr. was arrested for reckless driving or later arrested for possession of drugs.  There was a 2 inch bit on page 48 of MSM newspapers but that wasn’t of any consequence.

Eleanor Clift (She Who Whines When She Speaks) made a  hyena -like statement on the McLaughlin Group this past Sunday.  She railed about Sarah Palin’s lack of experience and demeaned her candidacy by saying that she had held the office of governor since 2006 and before that time had been on the Wahilla {sic: Wasilla,AK}  city council becoming the mayor of a town of 5,505 people.  {hear the sneer}.   "I guess that’s where she learned about the budget." (Eleanor) followed by laughter from her colleages on the McLaughlin panel.   Eleanor Clift also made a statement about the ridiculousness of Palin’s being chosen for the Vice Presidential ticket and indicated that it was not even meaningful and that in newsrooms across the country, people were laughing about Palin.  I suppose when you are a full-grown Hyena…. and in full cry, you fail to recognize that the MSM newsrooms of America do not really reflect the opinions of the Voting Public, most of which reside in towns of 5000 or less.  But if you are an MSM snob from the Eastern Seaboard—-what else would you know… except what passes in your Sanctified Inner Circle from a Newsroom?    Eleanor’s "laughter-like calls" may turn to sobs on November 5, 2008.   It will be interesting to see what she has to say if her Liberal ticket loses the election.

But now, I have to go tune in on the Hyenas who are surely divinating, laughing, moving in a pack, and being predators…. ( and feasting on carrion)….in other words I am going to watch a bit of the Convention Coverage coming out of St. Paul.

APPLES AND TOMATOES…..

There is a delightful kid song by "Raffi" that begins "I like to eat, eat, eat, apples and bananas…"    My version of that song today is "I like to can, can, can, apples and tomatoes…."

I have been canning "tommy-toes" all day since I came back from my good friend Pam’s home in Detroit Lakes this morning.  Pam and her husband Don are "Tomato-Givers" as  Don starts tomato plants in his greenhouse each spring—–about 600 of them!   They give away the seedlings plus any extra tomatoes they get from their garden are given to friends and family. I have tomatoes in my garden —but not enough to preserve and this was a year I wanted to can a lot of tomatoes, having used up many quarts I canned about 3 years ago when we had a huge bumper crop.   It has been a labor of love and I feel so great hearing those finished jars going "pop, pop, pop" as the lids seal after their processing in a 30 minute hot water bath in a canner.  I do not use a pressure cooker…do not have one…but I was always afraid when my mother used her pressure cooker; I was always convinced the thing was going to blow up and kill us all in our own kitchen (it never did of course but it has not quelled my feeling about such a cooker).   I was scared of my Mother’s "Presto Cooker" also….a pot that most households had and used in my day as a child.  My mother made wonderful chili, soup, ribs, potato dumplings, and other tasty dishes in her Presto Cooker.  But I was alway hovering by the door—just in case it blew its lid. (I think Crock Pots have replaced Presto Cookers)       I am also scared of gas stoves!!!   My cooking stove has always been an electric one.

Today I also cooked and canned some very beautiful rosy-red crab apple juice…part of it will become jelly, part of it is going to be apple juice… not bought at a store!

My body is achin’ and racked with pain….well not quite that dramatic….but I can feel I have put in a good physical day in the kitchen standing on my feet over my hot stove full of cooking tomatoes , apple juice and then the big canner steaming away with the jars inside. As I type this blog, the canner is cooking up the last batch of tomato quarts—-and I still have two more boxes of Pam and Don’s great tomatoes.   I will give myself a day off tomorrow and go "gallivanting" with my friends…one group of us will have breakfast together and then I  will be off to the Detroit Lakes Country Club’s "Little Easy" for lunch with the Retired Teachers group from my old school.  It is our way of celebrating the fact that we are no longer in a hot classroom with rambunctious kids on the first day of the school year!!!!     I drove by Rossman School in DL today and saw a lot of teachers’ cars parked outside in the lot….I remember that routine well….we never really did anything on Labor Day because many of us were at school making final preparations for the school opening on Tuesday.  Labor Day was a good day to work in a classroom…..no meetings, no interruptions…just peace and quiet… and a good time to accomplish a lot of preparations.

I am going to go sample my beautiful rosy- red apple juice….it looks like a jewel in a jar and I know it is going to taste like the fabled "ambrosia" of fairy tales.  Mmmmmm, good!
