I have been doing a slow simmer over the "principled conservative" (self-named) radio talkers like Rush L and Sean H , & Laura Ingraham (as well as others who I do not listen to, but know of their radio talk shows)…plus the VERY conservative writers such as Ann Coulter….who have all been like a pack of yapping Yorkies when it comes to critiqueing John McCain’s credentials as their idea of a Conservative candidate for the presidency. I have lost a great deal of respect for these folks and another one who is a Big Burr under my saddle is Dr James Dobson, who is reminding me more and more of a Pat Robertson foolish- figure on the evangelical scene…one who is going to, or already has…made a big fool of himself trying to be a "political Kingmaker" in this year’s presidential election. My view of Dobson is this: stop sticking your uppity conservative political nose into the election cycle!!!! Stick with what you originally did…produce good Christian radio programs and materials and act like the counselor you are and not a political pied piper ready to lead your followers (Kool Aid drinkers) over the alleged cliff or into the river!!!! Just butt out!!! I am so sick of him and his self-righteous, ultra-conservative pronouncements on why he cannot ever vote for John McCain if he is the presidential candidate for the Republicans. Fine—don’t vote…any of you Cockamamie Principled Conservatives including Hannity, Limbaugh, Ingraham, Coulter….just shut up and don’t vote…I, and a lot of other ordinary conservatives, are sick of your same tiresome refrain.You say the same things over and over and over, ad nauseum, and think we want to listen to you? I am NOT listening any longer.
But I think I have figured it out—-with a little prompt from Brit Hume this morning on a Sunday political news show. I am now convinced that all this Wah-Wah from the Principled Conservatives is a symptom of their helpless realization that they CANNOT sway the American conservative voters like they think they should be able to!!!! The voters in the primaries and the caucuses all over the nation show that the conservative "plain folks" like the idea of John McCain becoming the president in 2008. He IS conservative in spite of what the "pick-a little-talk- a- little"( actually " talk-a -lot") crowd has been gnawing on for days and weeks like a maddened bulldog that will not let go of a bone or a rag. They are not having the influence on voters they think they should have!!!! What a blow to big egos!!!!
McCain has voted consistently PRO LIFE for years and years which is one of the really huge issues with Dobson and the others; McCain is against raising taxes and has supported numerous measures that keep taxes from running amok. He is good on Foreign Policy and has a sensible, long, consistent record in that area—-something the other candidates on either side do NOT have! He is a genuine American hero with his long service to the country… both militarily and politically. BUT—-the Nit Pickers have to chew over the bones of his voting record and point out that he did NOT vote against a certain bill to prohibit using embryonic stem cells or some such perceived malevolent error according to the Principled Conservatives….. They-Who-Must-Be -Obeyed!!
I think it all comes down to Massive Egos getting their egos rubbed the wrong way and they are in a "hissy fit" over their loss of their "influence" on the American political scene.
To them all I say, Bah-Humbug! Do your thing and point out the deficiencies of the Liberal candidates and leave the candidacy of John McCain to the people who are voting for him. Grow up, you Big Babies!!!!
